In early May of 2014 we shipped out for a week with our friends PK and Julia on their 95 ft. sailboat Havfruen. We met in Gustavus, the small town and gateway, to Glacier Bay to hop aboard. We were blessed with crystalline skies and mostly alone with the birds and creatures of the bay. As you move from the mouth to the head of the various fjords you travel back into time where life begins - soon there is only sky, rock, ice and water - no plants. The sea is the prolific food source that supports seals, sea lions, sea otters, land otters and a wide variety of sea birds. On land are moose, brown and black bear, mountain goats and wolves.
