In June of 2012 we took an 11 day inflatable canoe trip down the Kongakut River to the Arctic Ocean barrier islands in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. The trip was guided by Magill Adams of Wilderness Alaska with a small group. We started high in the Eastern Brooks Range near the Canadian border and floated out to the Arctic plain and finally to the barrier islands of the Arctic Ocean. A fabulous trip with beautiful sunshine that never set. Dall sheep, brown bear, moose, caribou, muskox and a wide range of birds kept us company.
